5. A Grievance after Employment
Some grievances could be an indication that the former employee is considering making a claim to a tribunal. So rather than ignore the grievance, or go back saying that you’re not legally required to investigate it because they have now left, you could look into matters further and (if appropriate) invite the employee to an informal meeting.
You can confirm that the formal grievance procedure has not been triggered (as it does not cover former employees), but you can still listen to the complaint and gather information. You can then decide how to best progress matters.
